March 7, 2003 This annual
dinner is our primary fund-raising effort for AEA’s scholarship
program. This program – open to all Oakland High School
seniors and also to children of Port employees – has awarded over
$45,000 in scholarships since 1993. Last
year’s dinner was held at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center in
Oakland, California. Numerous Oakland community leaders, city
officials, and corporation sponsors joined us for this annual
celebration. Thuy Vu co-anchor of the ABC7 Sunday Morning
News/General Assignment Reporter, acted as the Mistress of Ceremonies.
A variety of prizes were raffled away, and a silent auction took
place. On
March 7, 2003, we will host our 12th Annual Lunar New Year Dinner.
This year’s Mistress of Ceremonies will be Elizabeth Bermudez, co-
anchor of the ABC7 Morning News/Anchor. If you would like to
join us for an evening of festivities or support our fund-raising
efforts, please contact events@portaea.org.
