2003 CALENDAR OF EVENTS

January 2003
Membership Drive

AEA is starting it's annual membership drive, which will culminate with an exciting mixer on January 29th. You won't want to miss this one! Click here to see what we're all about.

January to December 2003
Script Sales

Help AEA raise funds for its Scholarship Program without any cost to you. AEA purchases scrip certificates at a discount and sells them to you at face value. You use these scrips just like cash. For instance, a $50 Macy's gift certificate may be purchased by AEA at $45 and is sold to you at its face value of $50; hence, AEA makes $5. You, in turn, use this scrip just like cash. If you have a Macy's credit card, you may charge your purchases to your Macy's card and make payments to your account at any Macy's cashier by using the scrip.  Please contact scriptsales@portaea.org with your order or for more information.

March 7, 2003
12th Annual Lunar New Year Fundraising Dinner

This annual dinner is our primary fund-raising effort for AEA’s scholarship program.  This program – open to all Oakland High School seniors and also to children of Port employees – has awarded over $45,000 in scholarships since 1993.

Last year’s dinner was held at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center in Oakland, California.  Numerous Oakland community leaders, city officials, and corporation sponsors joined us for this annual celebration.  Thuy Vu co-anchor of the ABC7 Sunday Morning News/General Assignment Reporter, acted as the Mistress of Ceremonies.  A variety of prizes were raffled away, and a silent auction took place.

On March 7, 2003, we will host our 12th Annual Lunar New Year Dinner.  This year’s Mistress of Ceremonies will be Elizabeth Bermudez, co- anchor of the ABC7 Morning News/Anchor.  If you would like to join us for an evening of festivities or support our fund-raising efforts, please contact events@portaea.org.
