Scholarship Awards Day

Four Oakland senior high school students received $1,000 each in scholarship awards. They were:

In addition, four runner-up high school students received $250 each. They were:

Chinese and Filipino cuisine was served to at least 150 attendees for lunch. Entertainment was provided by Franklin Middle School's Drum Corps from Vallejo. The Drum Corps performed Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Gloria Estefan's "Conga". Some Port employees also performed "scenes" from the "Sound of Music" and a Village People medley that included "YMCA."

Fundraising Dinner to Honor Port Commissioner President John Loh

East Bay Asian Design Professionals (EBADP), an association of Asian architects and engineers in the East Bay, hosted a fundraising dinner at Peony Restaurant in downtown Oakland to honor Port Commissioner President John Loh for his contributions to the Asian community. AEA thanks EBADP for choosing AEA's Scholarship Program to receive the proceeds from the successful event, which was attended by at least 120 members and supporters.

Halloween at the Square

In conjunction with Oakland Portside Associates, AEA manned various booths which included scarecrow hay-stuffing, picture taking.
